"Swift calipers" hand forged dual calipers
After forging a pair of the classic blacksmith dual calipers I had the idea to change-up and stylize the design. I based the design on the Swifts that frequent our area every spring.
Dual calipers are a very simple and very useful measuring device. I use them frequently in the shop as a quick way to transfer measurements, and I find them especially suited for rough forging stock to multiple dimensions(many of my hammer blanks are forged to a different Width and Height)
Each pair is hand forged from 1018 steel and forged rivets. These calipers will continue to smooth out with use, and if you ever need to tighten them or increase the tension all that is needed is a light tap on the rivet.
These are made to order and fairly intricate/ time consuming, so please allow 1-2 weeks for delivery.
